United Arab Emirates Real Estate Negotiation
The challenge:
A U.S. maritime company was facing major obstacles closing a $350 million real estate development deal in United Arab Emirates. After selling the rights to develop a piece of land in the multibillion dollar Maritime City Project, the local government began to renegotiate the terms of the contract along far more restrictive lines. This had an adverse effect on the regional real estate market and threatened the economic interests of every stakeholder.
Our role:
With over a quarter of a billion dollars at stake, Outreach Strategists immediately tapped our extensive network of senior diplomatic contacts, and dispatched a crisis management team to assist in the negotiations between the government and company. The position of the government needed to change in order for our client to complete their project. We presented the potential international and domestic consequences of the government’s failure to re-evaluate the terms.
The solution:
We were able to change the perception of acceptable business practices and exerted enough influence to bring the deal to a satisfactory conclusion.
